Immortal Technique comes to mind. Umm.. Diamond D, pretty old school but dope.
it depends what you like…lupe fiasco (pretty well known) joe budden is nasty look for his mixtapes hes not just the “pump it up guy”lol jay electronica is new nd pretty nice…blu…asher roth …B.o.b….j. cole….charles hamilton joell ortiz…royce da 5′9 (not new but slept on) pacewon gotta download his song children sing, beats redic….thats all i can think of youll def hear sum good **** if u look up some of these dudes tho
I dig, but you need to understand that “very good” is highly subjective and dependent on taste. I probably think one song is fly as hell, but you might think it’s whack. Go explore your own music, ya herrrrrrrd?
Try Soul Position. Socially conscious, and very good. “Fu** A Job” is a song just about anyone could relate to. All of the rest are deeper, and even better

dumbie you supposed to tell us what artist you have so we can know what to recommend
Nicki Minaj
Shes a beast.
thats the only one i can think of
not well-known but definitely dope:
pharoahe monch and organized konfusion- though he only released 2 albums, the guy is definitely talented. his group, organized konfusion, is a 90s classic duo group thats most famous for their song, stress
big l- while he is very well-known in the rap community, he isnt well-known outside of rap. quite possibly the best punchline rapper of all-time, hes famous for his song ebonics and for collaborating with jay-z and cam’ron before the blew up
blu- hailed as west side’s answer to common, he, along with exile, released a dope underground album in 07 called beneath the heavens. soulful kind of rapper, has some pretty good rhymes
the coup- a west coast political rap group that uses a lot of humor in their songs. their best album is considered to be steal this album, but you also gotta check out genocide & juice. a song to start off with would be fat cats, bigger fish
freestyle fellowship- a west coast underground group that are most famous for releasing albums that weren’t gangsta as all the west coast artists were releasing back in the early 90s. also known for the classic song, 7th seal, and for mikah 9, who many critics have praised for paving the way for the popular rap group, bone thugs
main source- if you hear it aint hard to tell by nas, the producer that produced that song comes from this group. the group didnt last very long but they released a classic in 91 titled breaking atoms. there are many classic songs on this disc so i suggest you should check it out
o.c.- i found this guy to be heavily slept on considering he released an album in 94 just rivals arguably the best rap cd, illmatic. o.c. is also known for being a part of the d.i.t.c (which also included big l and fat joe). he released word…life in 94 and followed it up with another classic titled jewelz. check out his most well-known song, time’s up, which attacks whack rappers. a nice flow and nice choice of words in this song, along with a gritty sound
pete rock & cl smooth- pete rock is one my favorite producers of all-time and if you look, hes actually very well respected in the hip hop community (the late-great j. dilla was heavily influenced by his work). cl smooth is the rapper of the duo and both released the best tribute song ever in rap history, t.r.o.y. (they reminisce over you). though the duo didn’t last long, they released 2 epic albums: mecca & the soul brother and the main ingredient. i suggest you cop both
eric b and rakim- though rakim is heavily regarded as the god mc, i feel these guys didnt get the recognition they truly deserve. back in the 80s when everyone was rapping about having a good time, rakim rapped about things more deep. he is the reason why 90s rap is considered rap at its best, because of the subject choice. rakim, along with eric b., changed how rap was looked at, at the very young age of 17 when the duo released arguably the best rap record (i say arguable because this and the cd im going to mention are both considered legendary), paid in full. they never released one whack record (yes, they only had 4 cds, but all 4 of them are epic).
vakill- its like big l was reborn because vakill is such a dope punchline rapper. his style, flow and lyrics is unbelievable. check out his first album, the darkest cloud. it contains one of the dopest collaboration records ever recorded (well, thats what i think) called forbidden scriptures. his next album, worst fear confirmed, is equally just as great. check out the song, serpent & the rainbow, from the album (many people claim this is his best track). hes coming out with a record hopefully this year, armor of god, so definitely look out for that
gangsta groups that arent as well-known
above the law- influential west coast group that were well-known for collaborating with nwa. cold 187um, member of above the law, has been said to create the g-funk sound (reports say that dre overheard him in the studio one day and stole it, later releasing the classic, the chronic). til this day, i still believe cold 187um started it because in 94, the group released MY favorite g-funk album, uncle sam’s curse, which had much more impact on me than the chronic did
brotha lynch hung- a horrorcore rapper from the garden blocc, brotha lynch is most well-known for releasing what is considered to be horrorcore at its finest, season of da siccness. i dont think any rapper is as grimey and as violent as he is, he has a flawless flow too
boo yaa tribe- the samoan rap group from carson that are well-known for their extreme size, boo yaa have been around since the early 90s and have released a number of cds that have contributed well to gangsta rap. they also do hard rock too, but check out one of their more recent works, west koasta nostra
geto boys- one of the most slept on southern rap groups in my opinion, it is these guys that generally put houston on the map back in the 80s. nwa released the most notorious rec
